Recreation

The beaches have been historically and are currently used by the community for:

Subsistence gathering, beachcombing, dog walking, family camping, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing, photography, kayaking, collecting edible plants, and clam digging.
Outdoor classrooms for elementary students, the Boy Scouts, and Schoenbar Middle School Environmental Educational classes.
"Toughies" camp outs where youth learn outdoor survival skills.
